The majority of Palestinians residing in Syria participated in the Syrian revolution; as both the Palestinian and the Syrian causes share the same struggle; the liberal struggle for freedom. Palestinians have participated very effectively during protests and marches, many Palestinian activists also stood out in Homs, specifically in the medical aid and relief work.
The Syrian regime’s army and security force’s bullets did not distinguish between a Syrian and a Palestinian, or a child or a woman, especially during the periods of violent, indiscriminate shelling where many people were losing their lives without discrimination of religion or race or nationality
However, Palestinians were somewhat directly targeted by the Syrian regime; an evidence of this is the widespread detention campaigns which reached a large number of them. The Syrian network for human rights documented more than 1 500 Palestinian citizens who have either disappeared or have been detained and are subjected to torture along side Syrian detainees. 9 Palestinian detainees have lost their lives due to systematic brutal torture.

We, the Syrian network for human rights as an organisation which aims to protect human’s rights believe that the Syrian regime holds the total responsibility of the torture and death of Palestinians and all the implications of the reactions towards these actions.
The Syrian network for human rights also condemns Israel’s brutal attack on the civilians of Gaza and we consider all these actions as war crimes which the international community must punish.
International human rights organisations around the world must take action immediately to pressurise the governments which support and supply weapons and political shelter, which facilitates the killing, and the evasion of punishment and accusations by Arabs.
We demand from the international community including the United Nations and the Security Council to take action immediately to protect the civilians in Syria and in Gaza and to take deterrent action which ensures the dignity and freedom of humans. We also demand that they take ethical and legal responsibility towards the people in the region which are part of the international population, whom they are entitled to protect and support.
