The Story of a Fallen Hero and a non-violent peaceful movement activist: Alaa Abdul Aziz Khareeta

The Story of Alaa Abdul Aziz Khareeta, peaceful dynamism activist in Az-Zabadani city in Rural Damascus and its Revolution Coordination Committee member.

Alaa Abdul Aziz Khareeta, a 26 years old young man, Revolution Coordination Committee member in Az-Zabani, was arrested at one of the regime’s war checkpoints in Rural Damascus on Thursday 14/06/2012. It is worth mentioning that those checkpoints divided the country, cities and streets. As no one knows whether he is on the wanted list, any Syrian citizen might be arrested at the first or the second checkpoint.

This young man, Alaa, was transported to a patrol affiliated to the Syrian regime security forces commanded by Colonel Hassan Zeinou. Alaa was subjected immediately to barbaric torture ways conducted and supervised by people who do not belong to Humanity and have no meaning of mercy of pity.

They inflict on Syrian citizens mechanisms of torture that are only used by regimes that still live in darkness; such regimes can be counted by fingers, including the Syrian regime.

No international investigation committee was able to gain access to these detention facilities to verify the reality of the situation of the illegally detained citizens and inspect the mechanisms used for torture by the Syrian regime.

Alaa was tortured to death in less than 20 hours. The regime’s forces returned his body to Az-Zabadani bearing horrible marks of torture to be a lesson for the activists and residents.

Residents sent a clear and obvious response in the following day, Friday 15-06-2012. First, thousands of residents performed funeral prayer over his pure soul. Then they took from the mosque to the Freedom Square in a protest chanting slogans for freedom, in support of Alaa, for victory and that Bashar and his entourage shall be executed. Consequently, the regime’s army troops attacked protesters, opened gunfire injuring a large number of whom and shelled with mortars the quarter where Alaa used to live injuring his cousins, one of them has clinical death.

Alaa is a married man … She is a window now
Alaa has a child …. He is an orphan now

Alaa was one of the first citizens to protest and chant for freedom and dignity. He took part in all the protests of his city and was one of the founders of its Revolution Coordination Committee. All residents of Az-Zabadani speak highly of his hard work, perseverance, patience and moral excellence.
