A Special Report prepared by the Syrian Network for Human Rights Member on Al-Houla Massacre

One of the members of the Syrian Network for Human Rights was able to arrive at Taldo village about 9 o’clock, and he met some residents. Stories have been documented by some of the residents and activists, and he was able to tape videos with his personal cameras. Those videos are available and they have been uploaded on YouTube. The Syrian regime’s army shelled with heavy artillery and mortar the plains and villages of Al-Houla, Kafr Laha, Tal Al-Thahab, but the fiercest shelling centred on the village of Taldo. They regime’s army carried on the shelling for about 14 hours killing 11 victims and wounding scores of people.

The shelling has been followed by massive raid campaign launched by the Syrian regime’s security forces whose members belong to the villages of Al-Qabou and Filla that are regime loyalists to the regime. They raided a large number of houses and perpetrated systematic executions. They raided the villages neighbouring their own villages and executed men, women, children and the elderly. The largest number of executions was inflicted on the people of Taldo.
The regime’s security forces perpetrated executions, slaughter by bayonets. Then shot the victims, deformed and mutilated their bodies. They executed people in their houses and every one whom they came across, including 7 shepherds in the plains of Al-Houla.
The killings of 62 victims have been documented, and the figure is likely to increase significantly. Moreover, the Syrian regime denies all humanitarian, human rights, documentary and even media organizations from getting access to the Syrian lands. The victims include 30 kids and 13 women. We were able to confirm 16 names out of 62 victims.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) and Damascus Centre for Human Rights Studies (DCHRS) strongly condemn the horrible massacre that was inflicted on the people of Al-Houla before the eyes of the world. We hold the Syrian president, Chief of Staff, responsible for all the acts of killings, tortures and massacres that were perpetrated in Syria as he is the first Official responsible for giving those orders.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) and Damascus Centre for Human Rights Studies (DCHRS) consider all the Senior Officials leading the security apparatus and the military forces as direct partners in those acts, and demand the UN Security Council to undertake its responsibilities honestly and not to have double standards. The UN Security Council must refer all those officials who committed crimes against humanity to the International Criminal Court (ICC) without any further delay or procrastination.
