Adnan Ghassab al-Mahameed

Adnan Ghassab al-Mahameed was born in Daraa in 1975. He graduated with engineering degree from Aleppo University in 1999. Mr. al-Mahameed worked in the public sector but his service was terminated by the Air force intelligence forces because he expressed misgivings about the interference of the Iranian State in Syria. Mr. al-Mahameed became self-employed working in his own office. When the Syrian revolution began in 2011, Mr. al-Mahameed devoted himself to work for the revolution. He became an activist and began coordinating with fellow activists. Also he organized peaceful demonstrations and protests against the Syrian regime. When the Syrian revolution transformed into an armed conflict, Mr. al-Mahameed decided to work in the human rights documentation field. He worked for a number of human rights organizations including Avaaz, the Syrian Organization for Human Rights, and the Syrian Network for Human Rights. Currently Mr. al-Mahameed is responsible for documenting human rights violations in southern Syria and he is the head office of the Southern office for DCHRS.
