Overwhelming majority of the victims were civilians killed by indiscriminate shelling

As the war endures, violence and systematic human rights abuses continue to be common tactics used by the Syrian government regime’s forces. DCHRS documented in the month of October 2013 a total of 2360 victims who were killed by regime forces and their loyal militias. 65% of those killed were civilians, totaling 1534 victims; the 826 remaining victims, which make up approximately 35% of those killed, were armed opposition forces.

In September 2013 DCHRS documented 2369 (Two Thousand Three Hundred and Sixty Nine) victims killed in different cities throughout Syria; additionally there were 8 (Eight) documented victims from other nationalities.

The ratio of the number of adult men victims is 81% divided into 40% non-armed civilians, and 41% non-civilian victims (armed opposition and rebels).
