Syrian man Ahmed Andora was released on 27 January 2012 after almost four months in detention. <\/p>\n
A local contact told Amnesty International that Ahmed Andora was released in the early hours of 27 January 2012. He was not taken before a judge and no charges were brought against him. He has been very tired since returning home to his family, but otherwise he appears to be in good health. <\/p>\n
Ahmed Andora was arrested by members of the Syrian security forces from a cafe in Damascus on 28 September 2011. On 2 October 2011, he was allowed to make a phone call to his family, during which he informed them that he was being held at the Political Security branch in Damascus. His family did not hear from him again until his release in January and despite their repeated attempts to find out about his fate and whereabouts, no information about him was given to them by the Syrian authorities. The reasons for his arrest and subsequent release remain unknown. <\/p>\n
Thanks to all of those who took action on behalf of Ahmed Andora. No further appeals from the network are required at present but Amnesty International will continue to monitor this case. <\/p>\n
