{"id":370,"date":"2011-09-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-26T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","slug":"","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dchrs.org\/?p=370","title":{"rendered":"Political Security Disappear a young human rights defender from Al Hasakah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<strong>26 September 2011<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<br \/>\nOn 4 September, Ayo Jwan, a young activist and human rights  defender, was disappeared from his home in Al Hasakah by members of the  Political Security. His family has no news from him since this date.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ayo Jwan is 30 years old and lives with his family in Ras Al  Ain, Al Hasakah, Syria. He has been a member of the Committees for the Defense  of Democracy Freedoms and Human Rights in Syria for years, and has been active  defending those arrested in recent demonstrations and calling for peaceful  change in the country.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nOn 4 September 2011, agents of the Syrian Political  Security, who were wearing civilian clothes, raided Mr Jwan\\&#8217;s house, arrested  him and took him to an unknown location. These agents did not present a  judicial warrant for his arrest, nor did they give any reason.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nOn 15 September 2011, Alkarama submitted Mr Jwan\\&#8217;s case to  the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances with a copy to the  Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special  Rapporteurs on Torture as he is at high risk of torture and ill-treatment  during his disappearance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nA number of peaceful demonstrations have taken place in the  country to call to Mr Jwan\\&#8217;s release as well as the release of thousands of  other people disappeared or detained. However, the Syrian Political Security  refuses to provide any information on Mr Jwan\\&#8217;s fate or whereabouts.<br \/>\nAlkarama is extremely concerned at the continued degradation  of the human rights situation in Syria.
