Furthermore, while the international coalition is busy fighting IS or ISIS, Regime forces escalated violence to kill hysterically as many Syrians as possible by perpetrating more than 25 Massacres in the month of September alone. The Syrian forces sought the opportunity to continue targeting civilians recklessly, including children and women who are the real victims of such an equation. Syrian civilians remain to be the main target with complete failure to implement the “Responsibility to Protect” by the international community. Therefore, in the period of October the 8th and the 10th, DCHRS documented three massacres that were perpetrated by the Syrian regime resulting in 57 victims, most of whom were children, women, and elders.

The first massacre was in Al-Waar neighborhood in Homs province resulting in seven victims, the second one was in Erbeen city, Damascus Suburbs resulting in 30 victims, and the third one was in Daraa suburb – Al-Hara city resulting in 20 victims.

DCHRS documented other casualties who were killed in those provinces but they weren’t listed in this statement because they weren’t part of the described specific massacres or the precise location of it. Below are the details of the massacres:

Targeting a residential tower in Al-Waar neighborhood in Homs Province

On Wednesday October 8, 2014, at approximately at 3:30 PM, the Syrian regime targeted a residential building which resulted in killing seven victims. In addition 30 others were wounded, most of whom were children and women.

Regime forces targeted a building that was housing IDPs with a directed surface-to-surface missile. The missile hit the middle of the ninth floor in the tower. Later, the Syrian regime forces continued shelling heavily using mortar shells and Chilka shells, which hindered the fire men and the paramedics from aiding the victims in the targeted location.

At the end of Wednesday October the 8th, 2014, DCHRS documented nine victims including three children, two women, and two unidentified victims who were killed in Al-Waar neighborhood massacres, below are their names:

 1- Ruqaya Al-Abrash.
2- Child Sydra Al-Abrash.
3- Child Zaihn Hamloushi.
4- Hesham Kolkou.
5- Salam Khraz (the mother of the two children and Sydra and Ruqqaya)
6- Child Ranim Abbara.
7- Sabah Mukhtar.
8-9- Two unidentified victims.

The building that was targeted in Wa’er in Homs province

Targeting civilians in popular market in Erbeen city, Damsucs Suburbs

After less than 24 hours from the end of the first massacre, the Syrian regime perpetrated another brutal massacre in Damascus suburb – Erbeen. 30 victims, mostly children and women, were killed in this massacre. On Thursday October 9, 2014, at approximately 3:30 PM, the Syrian regime MiG warplanes targeted a crowded popular market in Damascus suburb – Erbeen to kill immediately tens of victims. Due to some of the dead bodies being charred and disfigured, some of the victims had not been identified.

DCHRS activists documented at least 30 victims and 90 others were wounded; most of them were children and women. The shelling targeted a civil area with no military presence at all. Tens of civilians were transferred to field-hospitals in Erbeen and the nearby areas, some of them were in critical conditions.

DCHRS documented at the end of Thursday October 9, 2014, 30 victims including four children and six women:

 1- Child Mosab Omar Raslan.
2- Child Ammar Abdurrahman Karnaba.
3- Heba Walid Ash-Shaikh Hassan.
4- Dalal Abi Khashka.
5- Asmaa Yousuf Raihan.
6- Suad Ad-Durra.
7- Amira Al-Attar.
8- Rwyda Al-Harbawi.
9- Samir Yoususf Al-Mulla.
10- Child Raed Samir Yoususf Al-Mulla.
11- Saeed Al-Mulla.
12- Ahmad Othman Al-Anzi.
13- Dyab Al-Habet.
14- Salah Bashar Al-Qalesh.
15- Ahmad Wahid Raslan.
16- Ahmad Saeed Qweder.
17- Mohammad Rashed Al-Halabi.
18- Ghassan Bassam Az-Zayyat.
19- Mohammad Nasser Taysir Al-Hallaq.
20- Mohammad Amer At-Tayr.
21- Mustafa Yassin At-Tayr.
22- Mu’away Abdulhadi.
23- Mohammad Ali As-Saqer.
24- Naeem Al-Ghabra.
25- Mohammad Qatayef.
26- Child Shadi At-Ton.
27- Bassam As-Sayed Hassan.
28- Ali Arafa.
29- Omar Abdussalam.
30- Anas Ahmad As-Sufyani, from Damascus suburb – Hamouriya.

An image of the Victims of Erbeen Masscre in Damascus Suburbs

Targeting civilians and IDPs in Al-Harra in Daraa Province

The third massacre was perpetrated after no less than 17 hours from Erbeen massacre, the third massacre occurred in Al-Harra city in Daraa western suburb – Daraa Province. On Friday October 10, 2014 at approximately 8:45 AM the Syrian regime dropped a number of barrel bombs on a residential area and then targeted the same area with a surface-to-surface missile. The shelling targeted the northeastern neighborhood known as Al-Hawamda where civilians and IDPs reside.

When the armed opposition took control over the city of Al-Harra in addition to a strategic hill nearby. The regime returned fire with airstrikes and shelling randomly against the civilians of the city, as a form of punishment, causing this massacre. DCHRS documented no less than 20 victims; six of them were from the same family. More than 42 were wounded and transferred to the overwhelmed field-hospitals in the surroundings city, which had severe medical staff and equipment shortage. DCHRS activists confirmed that most of the injuries were amputation cases.

At the end of Friday October 10, 2014, DCHRS documented 20 victims including seven children and a woman:

 1- Yoususf Qasem Al-Hwamda, 56-year-old.
2-Bahiyya Rezq Al-Hwamda, 55-year-old.
3- Ismail Mahmoud Hares Al-Hwamda, 67-year-old.
4- Child Ammar Mohammad Hamdan Al-Hwamda, 14-year-old.
5- Child Nariman Mohammad Hamdan Al-Hwamda, 18-year-old.
6- Child Khaled Ahmad Al-Hwamda, 12-year-old.
7- Hamdan Ahmad Zattal Al-Farrouh, 80-year-old.
8- Yahya Ali Sultan Al-Farrouh, 24-year-old.
9- Mersh’l Rashrash Al-Farrouh, 60-year-old.
10- Azzam Ahmad Al-Farrouh, 35-year-old.
11- Adham Ghazi Zaid Qanbas, 42-year-old.
12- Mohammad Mansour Qenbas, 43-year-old.
13- Child Ayman Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Wadi, 10-year-old.
14- Child Walid Suhaib Mohammad Qwariet, 13-year-old.
15- Child Shatha Suhaib Mohammad Qwariet, 10-year-old.
16- Child Nadi Suhaib Mohammad Qwariet, eight-year-old.
17- Ali Nasser Abu-Zaid, 62-year-old.
18- Khaled Mohammad Mutlaq Al-Khwalda, 22-year-old.
19- Saleh Abdunnabi Ibrahim Al-Hwamda, 80-year-old.
20- Mohammad Rashrash Al-Farrouj.

An image of a child victim who fell in Al-Harra in Daraa Province

Therefore, DCHRS will continue documenting and recording the violations against the Syrian civilians, the center emphasizes its most profound solidarity with the families of the victims, strongly condemns these massacres, and pronounces the silence of international community against the Syrian regime forces continues massacres.

DCHRS urges the international community, the U.N., and the Security Council to take immediate action to the reckless killing at the hands of the Al-Assad regime and to make serious efforts to hold the individuals involved in these massacres accountable as it can be openly classified as crimes against humanity and war crimes.

The Syrian regime is deliberately targeting civil areas, where civilians and IDPs live, across Syria and it is completely aware of that.
