In addition, the Syrian authorities continue the cruel  arbitrary detention of innocent civilians, leading to overcrowding and very  poor conditions. Such conditions don&rsquo;t take into account the most basic human  rights.&nbsp; As a result, a number of female  prisoners, all detained at the filing section in Adra Central Prison in the Capital  Damascus, decided to begin a hunger strike on Monday July 1, 2013 as a form of  protest for being detained for such a long time in the worst condition, without  ever appearing before any judicial body.\n<\/p>\n<p align=\\\"justify\\\">\nThe female prisoners are between  the ages of 19 and 60 years old. Among them are those with cancer and chronic  diseases and others who are pregnant.\n<\/p>\n<p align=\\\"justify\\\">\nThe female prisoners sent a  letter to the Head Prosecutor of the Terrorism Court seeking consideration of  their situation and requesting expedition of their appearance before competent  courts\n<\/p>\n<p align=\\\"justify\\\">\nThe Damascus Center  for Human Rights Studies declares full solidarity with the female prisoners  conducting the hunger strike in Adra Prison. DCHRS holds the Syrian Government  and the prison staff responsible for the safety of the prisoners. DCHRS  requests that the public prosecutor of terrorism listen to the demands of the  prisoners. DCHRS demands that human rights organizations be granted access to  the prison in order to check on the conditions of all prisoners, particularly  these hunger strikers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Syrian Regime continues to  ignore international human rights standards and violate international  humanitarian law.
