Damascus Center for Human Rights Studies documented today (145) one hundred and forty-five victims, killed in several cities in Syria, mostly in Damascus and its suburb, and have also been documented five victims killed in the previous days .

In Damascus and its suburb seventy-nine victims, and in Aleppo Twenty-two victims, and in Daraa seventeen victims, in Idlib eleven victims, and in Deir al-Zour ten victims, and in Homs five victims, and in Hama victims.

Damascus Center for Human Rights Studies documented today (80) victims killed in several cities in Syria, mostly in Aleppo, and have also been documented two victims fallen in previous days.

In Aleppo Forty Five victims, and in Damascus and its suburb Eleven victims, and in Daraa Nine victims, and in Idlib Six victims, and in Deir Ezzor, and in Homs and Hama Three victims each.

*The incident, according to the accounts of a large number of witnesses:

Following the continuous bombardment by Syrian Army warplanes on Al-Mowathafen neighbourhood in Deir Al-Zor, many civilians were left displaced; civilians in the neighbourhood migrated in the direction of the existing cemetery, which leads to the road to Damascus, on 16.10.2012. On their journey, they were arrested by military and security forces of the Syrian regime. Since then, no-one knew anything about them or their whereabouts.

South Africa can contribute to ending bloodshed in Syria

The recent unification of Syria’s opposition could curb human rights violations against civilians, but international pressure is still needed.

To limit the violations by both sides and ensure justice for victims, South Africa and other key members of the international community should support the referral of Syria to the International Criminal Court.
